Some Useful Sites, and those that I've Borrowed From
Just to reiterate, I don't keep this page updated much, but most of these sites are still up-and-running. Due in large part to the full-blown US release of Fushigi Yuugi anime & manga, new sites and articles are constantly being created. So my best advice would be to do a search on your favorite search engine or check out the Anime Web Turnpike.
Notes on manga availability:
My aunt reports that Viz may be picking up the US distribution rights to the manga so the translations may not be web-accessible for much longer. Plus there's lots of FY fanfic and cross-over stories online; up-to-date info can be found on some of the larger sites above.
Update: The manga is currently published in the US monthly as installments in Animerica Extra magazine, and is also available 2-3 times annually as graphic novels, all courtesy of Viz Communications.

Pioneer Animation
Sometime this fall, this series will begin to be released commercially in the US. Details are at this website, but the tapes should be available through retail distributors.
-
The Fushigi Yuugi Frequently Asked Questions List (part the first)
Just like it says, but as far as we can tell, it's the first of it's kind (in english, certainly). Done by the same team that brings you the next site.
-
The Shrine of the Almighty Chicken of DOOM!
Yeah, you heard right. Lots of pictures, links, parodies, fanart...you name it, they got it. They're part of the FY mailing list too, so they've got their ears against the wall, as it were.
-
Tasuki no Miko
A major shrine to Tasuki containing full English translations of most of the manga and an up-to-date list of FY Web sites, as well as the usual complement of FY images, info and fanfic listings.
-
Fushigi Yuugi - The Book of the Four Gods
My aunt's FY page, it's very well-done, and she keeps up more than I do with the latest FY news.
-
Miaka, Suzaku no Miko's FY Homepage
A pretty antique-book motif, with some nice links and a "commemorative stamp" section with postage-stamp-style images of all of the major characters.
-
Fushigi Yuugi World!
Good multimedia (sounds) and merchandising information ("Shopping Guide") sections. Nice background too (sky blue with white cloudlets).
-
Wo Ai Fushigi Yuugi
A pretty site by Yui-chan that focues on information and song lyrics related to the 2nd OVA series. It has open TV- and 1st OVA-series spoilers, so this isn't for the casually interested surfer.
-
The Anime Web Turnpike: Fushigi Yuugi Links
Always one of the most comprehensive listings of Anime-related web sites, and the series-specific pages are subdivided by focus.
-
The World of Genesis - Anime Galleries Section
Not much info, but a good image archive. They have stuff on many other series as well. Nice graphic design, but very image- and java- intensive. Warning: the text is tiny, so if you have normal eyesight either override their font size or be prepared to put your nose on the screen.
-
The Anime Archive - Fushigi Yuugi
Another good image archive containing pictures from other series as well. Occasionally slow-loading though, but if you have a slow connection what are you doing in an image archive?
-
EX feature article (vol. 1.5)
by Roderick Lee and Maria Muñoz providing an overview of the series,
including character descriptions and some production information.
-
EX article (vol. 2.8)
by Roderick "Agitator" Lee about the release of the second OVA series (contains
lots of spoilers about the TV series and the first OVA series).
-
Watase Yuu
A page giving a brief list of Manga Credits and mini-bio on the creator of Fushigi
Yuugi.
-
Anime Expo '98
Watase Yuu will be a Guest of Honor this year...I can't go, but if you'll be in California during July 4 weekend, why not? Update- I've never been to A/X, but I did meet Watase Yuu later in life at Animazement 2000. It was a blast, hands-down. I'll probably do a little page on con-sightings eventually, but suffice to say Ms. Watase is a very polite and forgiving lady with a kind of mischievous sense of humor and a strong feeling of obligation to her fans. BTW, if you ever meet her, she doesn't like flash photography...so don't even think about it.
