FilkMillerna
- to the tune of "Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits
- by Mandisa Washington

Details: Keeping the balance between my two favorite anime series (at that time), I did a Vision of Escaflowne filk following up on "Kourin". Millerna is often ignored or hated by Esca fans, and she's usually paired off with Allen the gallant knight, instead of her betrothed, Dryden the scholar and John Lennon-lookalike. The original song is a self-parody, commenting on the easy life of rock musicians in the video-focused age of MTV, even though the song itself was heavily promoted on MTV because of its pioneering use of extensive computer animation. Dryden works his butt off like the furniture movers in the song, while Allen poses dramatically like the envied rock stars. | More Story Info | Original Song Lyrics

[For aesthetic reasons, pronounce "Millerna" as mil-er-NEE.]

I want my, I want my, I want my Millerna
I want my, I want my, I want my Millerna
I want my, I want my, I want my Millerna
I want my, I want my, I want my Millerna

Now look at those pilots, that's the way you do it
You work the sword for Princess Millerna
That ain't charmin', that's the way you do it
Power for nothin', energists for free

Now that ain't courtin', that's the way you do it
Lemme tell ya, Heaven's Knights ain't dumb
Maybe get a trip to far-off Mystic Valley
Maybe get a trip to Phantom Moon

{Bridge}
I've got to lose these damn merchant's trappings
Make it into no-bi-li-ty, heh!
I've got to marry Millerna-hime
I've got to fulfill my destiny

He's Allen Schezerle with the cool clothes and pick-up lines
Hey check out his hair spray can
That Allen Schezerle got his own guy-melef
That Allen Schezerle he's some ladies' man

{Bridge twice}
I've got to lose these damn merchant's trappings
Make it into no-bi-li-ty, heh!
I've got to marry Millerna-hime
I've got to fulfill my destiny
{Refrain}

I've got to lose these damn merchant's trappings
Make it into no-bi-li-ty, heh!
I've got to marry Millerna-hime
I've got to fulfill my destiny

(Slow) I shoulda learned to work the sword forms
I shoulda learned to pick out clothes
Look at that mama, she got it hangin' out the carriage
Hey, Miss, could I have some ...

And he's using, what's that, it's a brush or a comb
Puffin' up his shirt sleeves like a maitre d'
Oh, that ain't courtin', that's the way you do it
Get your power for nothin', energists for free

Now that ain't charmin', that's the way you do it
You work your sword for Princess Millerna

That ain't courtin', that's the way you do it
Power for nothin', energists for free

Fortune for nothin', guymelef for free
Gets a princess for nothin', plus the throne for free

I want my, I want my, I want my Millerna
{Repeat to fade}
