Pattern Guide: Points

There isn't much to say about individual, isolated points. One square on a chart usually equals one canvas grid (the intersection of two crosswise threads [More]). In patterns using uniform stitches (all tent stitch, or all cross stitch, for example) one chart square often equals one stitch, even if that stitch covers more than one canvas grid. A single point can get lost in the pattern or forgotten during stitching, or it can add a necessary spot of contrast. Depending on the amount of detail desired, a point can imply an area of too-fine detail, or it can add flourish or highlight to a curved line.
